The Baker Family.
Old Park Farm has been run by the Baker family since 1928, Charles Baker originally ran the farm with his brother Jack and rented the farm and 200 acres of grassland from Charlton Park Estate. Charles then went onto farm this dairy farm with his wife Elsie. They had two children Joyce & Peter. In 1968 Charles bought the farm from the Estate and remained working at the farm until his death.
Peter was born at the farm in 1942 and worked on the farm since leaving school and took over the farm with his wife Eileen in 1966. They had three children Pauline, Julie and Richard. Richard then went on to repeat the same story as his father and left school to work on the farm in 1987, he has learnt all the skills needed to manage a dairy farm from his father. Richard married Ruth in 1999 and since then they have worked and run the farm together. We have two children Charlie & Jack (4th generation). As the boys grew up there was time to set a new business, so the cottages were opened 1st May 2007. |
Richard has one full time worker and part time help from his father Peter and wife Ruth. He has built up the dairy herd to just over 100 cows and rears all the replacements heifer calves, around 30 each year.
